03 | CUPS & CONES

OVERVIEW
Cups&Cones was a gelato shop located in Muskoka, Ontario — a popular summer destination known for its cottage tourism and vibrant seasonal culture. The project involved developing a logo and branded materials that captured the shop’s fun and welcoming personality while drawing inspiration from the nostalgic charm of 1950s ice cream parlours.
THE CHALLENGE
The challenge was to create a brand identity that was fun, eye-catching, and memorable while maintaining a timeless appeal. The design also needed to reflect the character of Muskoka cottage country, drawing on the region’s nostalgic summer atmosphere to create a stronger connection with visitors and locals alike.
RESULTS & IMPACT
The result was a cohesive brand identity with playful, informal energy. Rooted in the nostalgic charm of Muskoka cottage country, the design strengthened the shop’s connection to its surroundings while creating a memorable and inviting experience for seasonal tourists and the local community. The ampersand — designed to resemble two scoops of gelato, enveloped by a simple cup and scoops shape — became the basis for the graphic elements used to create a repeat pattern used in other branded designs.
